Background & Training
Lydia’s passion for the piano is evident from her playing and performing. After picking out cartoon melodies on the piano at an early age, she started formal lessons at age 7, and continued through college. In high school, she advanced to State levels in piano competitions and began teaching, composing and performing at local coffee shops, weddings, and special events. In 2004, Lydia earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from McDaniel College, studying classical piano under the guidance of Dr. David Kreider. A former Assistant Piano Teacher to the late Judy Ferencz (President of the Maryland State Music Teachers Association), Lydia has steadily built up a private piano clientele at her Westminster studio and Stu's Music Shop, teaching beginner through advanced level piano lessons. In 2011, Lydia was invited to join the Barnes-Ferencz Competition Committee; she encourages students to participate in this judged memorial competition. Read all about Lydia...

"I have been Lydia's student since 2003...taking lessons as a beginning student. As an older student this was challenging, and she has been very patient teacher. I have observed Lydia interacting with other students and she seems to have a great rapport with them."
