About Lydia Bandy

Online Piano & Harp Teacher • Performer • Music & Wellness Advocate

I’m Lydia Bandy—an award-winning pianist, harpist, and music educator with 25+ years of experience teaching children (age 7+), teens, and adults. In 2022, I was voted Carroll’s Best in Music Lessons and recognized among the Top 5 Piano Teachers in the Baltimore area. I teach worldwide via Zoom and perform live piano and harp music to weddings, memorials, private gatherings, and concert programs throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., and the greater DMV area.

Teaching Approach

I believe music should feel welcoming, confidence-building, and tailored to you. My lessons blend technique, expression, and creativity—meeting each student where they are and helping them grow at a steady, encouraging pace.

  • Ages 7+ through adult, beginner to advanced
  • Experienced with neurodivergent learners (autistic & ADHD): clear routines, gentle pacing, and supportive guidance for autistic and ADHD learners.
  • Piano: classical, pop, improv, exam/audition prep
  • Harp: Celtic/Irish, therapeutic/ambient, repertoire & technique
  • Music theory, ear training, songwriting

Piano Pearls

I released Piano Pearls in 2011 as a love letter to quiet moments—simple, expressive solo piano pieces that invite calm, focus, and reflection. It’s the same heart I bring to teaching and to my “music for wellness” work: music that helps you breathe, think, and create.
